Daniel Cambourelis-Haskins was supposed to return to his Hopkinton home around 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, according to Milford Police on Facebook. However, Cambourelis-Haskins called his mother around 6:11 p.m. saying his phone was dying while he biking on the Milford Bike Trail.
The biker's phone was last pinged behind Garrets Convenience Store on Cedar Street in Milford and he was last seen around 7:30 p.m. on the trail, according to police.
His body was found in a wooded area in Milford on Tuesday, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office reports. Cambourelis-Haskins was an Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 1 in Hopkinton, according to a Facebook post.
"With a very heavy heart we are sharing that the Milford Police Department has concluded the search and Eagle Scout Daniel Cambourelis-Haskins has passed away, the Troop wrote. "Daniel's family is in our thoughts and prayers.
Authorities believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing.
